We use .925 sterling silver (alloy containing 92.5% silver and 7.5% other metals - typically copper) making sterling silver harder than regular silver and therefore is made to last and very suitable for permanent jewelry. If worn all of the time, sterling silver will last decades. Pure silver is not susceptible to tarnishing in a pure oxygen environment, however the copper that is contained in .925 sterling silver may react to the hydrogen sulfide in the air and cause it to tarnish slightly. Don’t worry! If this happens, simply mix a small amount of baking soda, lemon juice, and olive oil together to make a thin paste. Dip a soft cloth into the paste and gently wipe the jewelry. Good as new! Gold-filled jewelry is made by bonding a thicker layer of gold to a base metal, making it more durable and long-lasting than gold-plated pieces.
